For Shopify brands

Shopify sends your products to ChatGPT. This is what decides whether they get picked.

Generative engine optimization (GEO) for fashion and beauty stores on Shopify: what the platform already does, what it leaves out, and what the Veristyle app adds in one click.

In one line: Shopify gets your catalog indexed by the AI assistants. Veristyle writes the who-it-suits data that gets a product chosen, and tests the difference before anything goes live.

Start with one shopper

She types into ChatGPT: “I’m petite with a fuller bust and I need a dress for a garden wedding in June. Nothing that adds width.”

You sell that dress. It is in your Shopify catalog, which means ChatGPT can see it, with its title, description, images, price, and variants. ChatGPT recommends two other brands. Not because it could not find yours. Because nothing in your record told it the wrap cut defines a waist on a short torso, that the viscose moves away from the body, or that the print scale reads balanced on a small frame. A competitor whose record said something like that got the answer.

That is the whole problem, and it is a data problem, not a ranking problem.

What Shopify already does for you

A lot, and you should use all of it. As of November 2026, Shopify’s Agentic Storefronts channel is on by default for eligible stores and sends your catalog to ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Meta’s AI surfaces, including its Muse shopping agent. ChatGPT is a discovery channel: shoppers buy on your own checkout. Google, Copilot, and Meta can complete the purchase with Shopify-powered checkout. Shopify also serves an llms.txt and an agents.md file for your store without you doing anything.

What the catalog carries, in Shopify’s own list: title, description, images, product type, vendor, collections, tags, barcode, and variants. Shopify says ranking varies by platform and can depend on data quality, relevance, availability, price, and engagement.

The channel is growing fast from a small base. Shopify reported AI-driven traffic up eight times year over year in the first quarter of 2026 and orders from AI searches up nearly thirteen times; by the second quarter, half of AI-referred sessions landed directly on a product page, and three quarters of AI-attributable orders came from outside its hundred biggest categories. Long-tail products, found by specific questions.

What it leaves out

Read that field list again. Every field describes the product. None describes the person. OpenAI’s own merchant feed specification has exactly two audience fields, gender and age group, and says eligibility does not guarantee display.

Shopify does give merchants a way to send more: Catalog Mapping lets you map metafields, metaobjects, and tag prefixes into the attributes agents receive. It does not tell you what to put there, and no guide we have found does either. That is the gap. The assistant has your product. It does not have the half of the shopper’s question that is about her.

What the Veristyle app adds

Install from the App Store, run optimization once, and every product gets a second set of fields written by models trained on fashion and beauty: not more adjectives, but who the product suits and when.

  • Apparel: fabric composition, stretch and drape, fit type, silhouette, physical traits the cut flatters, occasion, climate, size availability, comparable styles.
  • Beauty: skin type and concern, key ingredients, finish, fragrance profile, use cases, climate suitability, comparable products.
  • Jewelry and accessories: metal and stone, design style, sizing, occasion and gifting context, purchase intent.

Those fields go to three places. Your metafields, mapped through Catalog so ChatGPT, Google, Copilot, and Meta receive them. The JSON-LD on each product page, so Perplexity and every crawler receive them. And, if you connect it, an additional agentic feed in Google Merchant Center that does not touch your existing feed. The AI description is capped at 5,000 characters because that is the limit in both OpenAI’s and Google’s feed specifications.

Nothing on your storefront changes. The app can draft a visible FAQ, highlights, or a rewritten description per product, but only you publish them, one product at a time, with the original kept.

How fast

Minutes to install. A first run over a few thousand products takes hours, not weeks; twenty thousand SKUs ran in about six. New and changed products are enriched as you publish them, and the full catalog is refreshed every 28 days. You review results in the admin, including a per-product view of what agents receive.

How you know it is working

Three separate measurements, never blended into one score.

  1. 01

    Baseline

The free audit checks crawler access, product and review schema, llms.txt, and how a model reads your catalog against twenty shopper questions. Most stores score in the twenties out of a hundred the first time.

  2. 02

    Controlled test

Visibility Lab runs the same shopper questions against your catalog before and after enrichment with competitors held constant. In one October run on a beauty catalog, the brand went from recommended in 64 percent of 28 questions to 82 percent, and from 38 percent of all recommendations to 62 percent.

  3. 03

    Live

The dashboard tracks AI-driven referral clicks, orders, and top products by assistant, next to your own Shopify reports.

What brands on it say

  • “What we like most is how it helps our product and brand information show up naturally in AI-driven search and discovery. Since using it, we have noticed better visibility and more relevant traffic.” PeachLilly, United States
  • “Veristyle focuses on how AI models interpret product attributes: metal type, design style, gemstone characteristics, symbolic meaning, and purchase intent. For jewelry, where customers search by feeling, this makes a meaningful difference.” Nayiri Jewelry, United Kingdom
  • “The app doesn't just handle product listings and styling; it's built with AI and LLM crawler technology in mind.” Knockout Style Inc., United States

What it costs

Priced by how many products you optimize, billed through the App Store in US dollars: free for three SKUs to try it, $19 a month for 25, $49 for 100, $149 for 1,500. Most brands end up on Premium/Enterprise, a custom Shopify app built for their store and priced by SKU band, which we scope on a call. Monthly, cancel anytime. See the plans.

Start

If you want to see where you stand first, run the audit. If you already know, install the app on the free plan and run it on three products you care about.

Shopify FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Veristyle change what shoppers see on my product pages?

No. Enriched data is written to metafields, mapped into the Shopify Catalog that agents read, and rendered as JSON-LD for crawlers. Visible page content changes only if you approve the optional FAQ, highlights, or rewritten description for a product, and the original is backed up.

Do I need the Shopify Agentic Storefronts channel turned on?

Yes, for ChatGPT, Google, Copilot, and Meta to receive your catalog at all. It is on by default for eligible stores. Veristyle adds to what that channel sends; it does not replace it.

We work with an SEO agency. Does this overlap?

Rarely. Agencies handle crawler access, schema, content, and reporting. Veristyle writes per-product who-it-suits data at a scale no one writes by hand, and the agency can review it and work it into feeds. One of our live brands runs exactly this way.

What about Perplexity?

Perplexity is not a Shopify Agentic Storefronts channel. It reads your product pages and JSON-LD on the open web and runs its own free merchant program for direct product data. The enriched JSON-LD Veristyle renders is what it sees.

What data do you store?

Public product catalog data only: no customer, order, or personal data. Veristyle keeps a 30-day working copy; the enriched metafields live in your Shopify store and belong to you.
